Welcome to Quesnel Law, LLC
Quesnel Law, LLC advises and advocates for clients for various legal matters related to immigration and bankruptcy.
Our practice areas
We advise and advocate for clients for various legal matters related to immigration and bankruptcy.
Asylum
Immigrants who are interested in applying for asylum in the United States are seeking protection because they have faced persecution based on their race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion. It’s important to note that those who are interested in applying for asylum may only file this application if they are physically present in the United States and are not a U.S. citizen.
Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)
Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) allows immigrant children who cannot reunify with their parents due to abuse, abandonment, or neglect, and meet other listed criteria, to achieve lawful permanent immigration status.
Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) provides immigration relief for survivors of domestic violence and other crimes. If you are:
-
A spouse or child of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
-
Or a parent of a U.S. citizen.
You have the opportunity to submit a self-petition for lawful status in the United States, including receiving employment status and accessing public benefits.
T-Visas & U-Visas
T-Visas provides for immigration relief for those who are survivors of sex or labor trafficking. The T-Visa allows survivors to remain in the United States for an initial temporary period of up to 4 years, depending on their cooperation with law enforcement in the detection, investigation, and prosecution of traffickers. If granted, the visa also provides for employment authorization and certain state and federal benefits.
U-Visas provides immigrants who fall victim to certain crimes, have suffered substantial mental or physical abuse, and are helpful to the U.S. government and law enforcement in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity, the opportunity to apply for a green card.
Family-Based Immigration Challenges & Issues
Perhaps you have something else you’d like to talk about – like your daughter has U.S. citizenship or you are marrying a U.S. citizen – attorney Tyler Quesnel will be able to help you determine next steps and options.
